Speaking of Seeds…

VINE is ready to send out tendrils in a new direction, more widely dispersing seeds of change while simultaneously helping to fund our educational projects. We need “seed money” for our latest offshoot: VINE Press.

With over 500 animals in residence here at the sanctuary, our direct care costs are so high that we always struggle to find funds for the education and projects we need to undertake if we ever want to end animal exploitation rather than just extend care to survivors.

Enter VINE Press. If we can secure seed money to get the presses rolling, then the project will be self-sustaining into the future, not only carrying our messages further but also helping to fund other educational projects. We’ll use crowdfunding to pay for the printing costs of each publication, and then sell the books and zines to fund the sanctuary’s education and advocacy programs.

Meanwhile, the publications themselves will be spreading seeds of change more widely. Fans of our veganic gardening series and folks who understand why our efforts to promote plant-based agriculture are so essential will be happy to know that one planned volume will be a handbook of veganic farming and gardening filled with practical tips and examples of inspiring projects. Those who appreciate our intersectional approach to animal advocacy will want to read the planned anthology of writing by LGBTQ animal advocates.

But first we need to get the press rolling. Just as gardening requires you to dig a bed before planting any seedlings, we must set up the infrastructure for the press before we can put out the first book.
