Thanks to everyone who wrote in and let me know that the piece about the teacher taking kids to see cows being murdered was fake. I did see that the site was “NewsWEAK,” but I thought that referred to the authors’ opinions about the news, not that the news itself was FAKE.
So, I apologize, one and all, and hey — all you teachers out there, start taking your kids to see the sickening torture and murder behind the “yummy hamburgers” you make them eat. It’s a good idea even if the story was fake.

I knew it was a fake but I still posted it and I love it. In fact last night I was gong to add a whole section about the children stumbling over veal calves trying to nurse from a dead cow but there was no way I could make it funny. The kind of funny that stays with you and makes you think. Newsweak is a great site — better than The Onion. Let everyone discover the hoax after they think about it a while.
Dear greenconsciousness,
How do you get to the Newsweak site? When I enter it on google, all I get are links to Newsweek.
Thanks
Here you are:

and here is their home page:

I rather thought you posted it to make people think. The fact that it was a spoof in the way it was presented doesn’t mean it shouldn’t make people think.
thanks for the link. I wish it were true. I posted it anyway.
Happy New Year!
Thanks, Green C. Now it’s on my check-often list. But I’m paranoid about why it doesn’t come up on google.
Probably because it is a new site?
Miriam – My mother told me that her high school class trip was a tour of a pig “processing” facility. The class went to the slaughterhouse and saw the whole thing. She is still traumatized by it and she’s eighty. There were teachers who thought it was ok. So really, even though this story isn’t now true, it was at one time.
Wow — what a story….. Thanks for posting this, truly.
The story and photo captured what we know is the proper response anyone should feel once faced with the reality of what is done to innocent life. I think it’s very relevant – No matter what “facts” surround the photo. Thanks for posting!
