We said we’d be organizing and participating in more events this year, and it’s true. On the heels of last month’s letter-writing event, VINE is happy to announce two events for March:
March 14, 7 p.m.: “Join the Baltimore Animal Rights Federation for an Evening with pattrice jones”
That’s Baltimore, MD not Baltimore, VT. The folks at Baltimore Animal Rights Federation (that’s right, BARF) have invited VINE cofounder pattrice jones to discuss the intersections of racism and speciesism as well as strategies for making alliances among animal rights and social justice organizations. The event will be held at the 2640 venue and is free and open to the public. Watch this blog for an outline of pattrice’s talk as well as a synopsis of the ensuing discussion.
March 17, 2 p.m., Brattleboro: “This is What Green Looks Like”
In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, VINE will be celebrating our vision of “green” with a free film showing and discussion. Following a screening of Peaceable Kingdom: The Journey Home, VINE will lead a discussion on the intersecting injustices and ecological imbalances implicit in meat, dairy, and egg production. Because this event coincides with the Tar Sands Blockade‘s week of action (which VINE whole-heartedly endorses), we’ll also let event attendees know what they can do to support or participate in that important effort. If you’ll be in Southern Vermont that day, please do join us at the The Stone Church, 210 Main Street, Brattleboro.
